Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day, all you mommies out there! Do you know how special you are?

I sure hope so. Being a mom has proven to be the most challenging job I've had so far. As a designer/illustrator, there is a certain level of predictability to it. For the most part, I know my limitations, I know my style. I know my clients, and I know the work that comes from them. The work keeps me busy, and it is a constant in my life.

On the other hand, being a mom is anything but predictable. Yes, we have our routines (and thank goodness for them!); but every day, the kid is throwing a curve ball. Just as soon as I figure her out, the next day, POOF!, it's gone. She makes me laugh, she makes me cry, she makes me want to scream and drop kick her to the moon. Her stubbornness, her indecisiveness, and her frustration is matched by her singing, her intellect, and her sense of humor. It is so hard to believe one little person can be so complex. But yet, somehow, I am able to love every little bit of her.

I am certain I have become a better person, simply by becoming a mother. The motherly challenges I face every day have helped me in other aspects of my life - from patience to multi-tasking to creativity - Stella has made me a better person.

Thanks to my little Stella - for making me who I am today. And Stephen - I can't imagine tag-teaming this job with anyone else but you.
